Charles Liu, M.D., Ph.D.

Senior VP, In Vivo Pharmacology, Oncology  

Dr. Liu is the senior VP, oncology pharmacology, at Pharmaron.  Prior to joining Pharmaron, he was a Senior Research Fellow at Crown BioSciences.  Previously, Dr. Liu worked for over ten years at US pharmaceutical companies OSI Pharmaceuticals and DuPont/Incyte Pharmaceuticals.  As a team leader, he advanced three novel anticancer agents from preclinical research to human clinical trials.  Tarceva was approved for marketing in November, 2004 as second-line treatment for non-small cell lung cancer and combined with gemcitabine for pancreatic cancer treatment in November, 2005. Two other agents - HuC424-DM1 antibody-drug conjugate for treatment of colon cancer and Virulizin for pancreatic cancer - are in clinical Phase III trials.

Dr. Liu received his M.D. from Tianjin University and a Ph.D. in cancer biology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.  Following post doctoral studies at Kansas University Medical Center, Dr. Liu began his professional career.  Dr. Liu is the author of over 35 scientific papers in addition to 25 presentations at international conferences.
