Connie Sun, Ph.D.

Senior Vice President, Oncology Chemistry

Before joining Pharmaron in 2009, Dr. Sun served as a Senior Director of Chemistry at Poniard Pharmaceuticals.  She is currently serving as the co-chair of the Science and Technology Committee for the Chinese American Biopharmaceutical Society.  Prior to joining Poniard, Dr. Sun held the position of Senior Director of Chemistry at AGY Therapeutics and Director of Chemistry at SUGEN (Pharmacia/Pfizer).  Dr. Sun is an accomplished scientist in small molecule drug discovery with over 16 years of biopharmaceutical experience. She has proven track record in accelerating multiple drug discovery projects to clinical trials in a cost effective fashion.  Dr. Sun discovered and participated in the development of Sutent and Palladia marketed by Pfizer for the treatment of multiple cancers in human and dog, respectively.  She has successfully built multiple state-of-the-art discovery chemistry laboratories and led many cross-functional teams.  Dr. Sun has multi-national work experience through collaborations and contract research organizations in US, China, Canada and the European countries.  She graduated from Beijing Medical University, China (Peking University) with a B.S. in Medicinal Chemistry and holds a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill followed by post doctoral training at Parke Davis, Division of Warner Lambert (Pfizer).
