Erich L. Grimm, Ph.D.
Executive Director, Drug R&D ServicesDr. Grimm joined Pharmaron as Senior Director, Drug Discovery Services, in 2009. Prior to this appointment, he held a senior position at Merck Frosst Canada, Inc. in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry. He was instrumental in a number of research programs in the area of hypertension, inflammation (5-Lipoxygenase, Cyclooxygenase-2, Microsomal Prostaglandin E2 Synthase), and apoptosis (Caspase-3). His small molecule drug discovery and development experience ranges from hit identification and lead optimization to full development of pre-clinical drug candidates.
Dr. Grimm received his Diploma with Professor H.-U. Reissig at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, Germany, and his Ph.D. in organic chemistry (1989) at the State University of New York at Buffalo under the supervision of Professor Peter T. Lansbury. He then joined Merck Frosst Canada, Inc. where he held positions of increasing responsibility. He is an author of 40 papers and is an inventor on 30 patents and patent applications.
