Guosheng Wu, Ph.D.

Guosheng WuExecutive Director, Computational Chemistry

Dr. Guosheng Wu is an expert in computer-aided drug design (CADD) with over 13 years of experience in theoretical and computational chemistry, and has made significant contributions to method development in protein-ligand docking and scoring functions. He was a Senior Research Scientist at Vitae Pharmaceuticals, where he spent over 7 years in both method development and applications in CADD. At Vitae, Dr. Wu was one of the developers for Vitae’s proprietary computational technology, which helped bring two compounds to clinical trials. He was a postdoc at Eli Lilly in 2002-2003. He has had extensive drug design experience in various therapeutic areas including CNS, cancer and infectious diseases using various modeling tools. Dr. Wu is a life-time member of SAPA and Executive Council for SAPA (2009 to 2011), SAPA-GP (2005 to 2011) and VP for SAPA-GP (2010 to 2011). He received the Excellent Service Award from SAPA a number of times.

Dr. Wu obtained his Ph.D. in 2002 under the guidance of Professor George C. Schatz in theoretical and computational chemistry from Northwestern University. He received his M.S. in physical chemistry from State Key Laboratory of Molecular Reaction Dynamics at Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997, and B.S. in chemistry from Wuhan University in 1994.
