Wengui Wang, Ph.D.
Head Process Development & ManufacturingDr. Wengui Wang joined Pharmaron in September 2007 as Head Process Development & Manufacturing. Prior to this appointment, he worked for seven years in the Chemical Development division at GlaxoSmithKline, where his teams contributed significantly in bringing several compounds to clinical trials. During his tenure at GSK, Dr. Wang worked with different pre-clinical functions and clinical representatives on several programs. Most recently, as a project leader, Dr. Wang led a multifunctional project team and advanced one compound to Phase II clinical trial.
Dr. Wang obtained his Ph.D. degree at the University of Montreal under the supervision of Professor Stephen Hanessian. He then pursued his postdoctoral research at Harvard University under Professor Yoshito Kishi. He worked on a variety of projects from synthetic methodology development to total syntheses of rifamycin, bafilomycin, tolyporphin and apoptolidin.
Dr. Wang received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Hebei University and obtained his M.S. from Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Science under the supervision of Professor Ruyun Ji. He also worked at Xinjiang Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Science.
