Wu Yang, Ph.D.

Dr. Yang joined Pharmaron in July 2011 as Executive Director in PK & Bioanalysis. His responsibility includes supervising discovery PK for small molecules, expanding Pharmaron’s PK service for Biologics and developing specialty PK such as PK for ocular drugs.

 

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Yang was a principal scientist at PKDM department, Allergan pharmaceutical company in Irvine, California. He has over 19-year experience in drug discovery and development for both small molecules and biologics. In addition, he has also gained extensive experience in ocular PK evaluation. He acquired his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Southern California, School of Pharmacy in 1992 where he focused on molecular pharmacology and molecular biology.

 

During his Doctoral studies and thereafter, Dr. Yang identified human, rat and mouse serotonin receptor subtype 2 cDNA and genome at USC. He was also the first to clone the human GABAa receptor alpha 4 gene and to demonstrate its unique pharmacological properties. He has designed and developed several ocular medications, filed ten patent applications, five of which have been approved. Dr. Yang has over 30 publications and authored 3 chapters in Molecular Pharmacology and Methods in Pharmacology. He has six Excellent Awards from his previous company.
