Xiao Hui Gu, Ph.D.
Executive Director, Medicinal Chemistry
Dr. Xiao-Hui Gu joined Pharmaron in May 2011 as an Executive Director of Medicinal Chemistry, bringing with him over 12 years of experience in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. Prior to joining Pharmaron, Dr. Gu held the position of Associate Director of Medicinal Chemistry and Head of Lead Discovery at Otsuka Maryland Medicinal Laboratories (OMML). From 2001 to 2008, Dr. Gu held various senior scientific positions with increasingly responsibilities at X-Ceptor Therapeutics and later at Exelixis, where he most recently was a Senior Scientist and Project Chemistry Leader for several drug discovery projects. During his tenure at X-Ceptor and Exelixis, Dr. Gu made critical contributions to the discovery of several clinical drug candidates.
Dr. Gu received his B.Sc. in chemistry from Hunan Normal University and his M.Sc and Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), Chinese Academy of Sciences. He did his post-doctoral research at National Institutes of Health (NIH) and at McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Gu is the co-author of 17 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and one book chapter, and is the co-inventor of more than 30 granted patents and patent applications worldwide.
