Ziping Liu, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Ziping Liu joined Pharmaron in June, 2011 as Executive Director of Medicinal Chemistry, bringing in over 13 years of experience in medicinal chemistry, drug discovery and crystallization. Prior to joining Pharmaron, Dr. Liu held the position of Principle Scientist I in Medicinal Chemistry at AstraZeneca R&D in Montreal. During his career with AstraZeneca, Dr. Liu made significant contributions to the discovery of several clinical drug candidates.

 

Dr. Liu received his B.Sc. in chemistry in 1983 and his M.Sc. in organic chemistry in 1986 at Nankai University, China, under the supervision of Professor Ru-Yu Chen. He later obtained a doctorate in Organic Chemistry at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland in 1993, under the direction of Professor Manfred Schlosser. He then completed his post-doctoral research with: Professor Bruce Lipshutz at the University of California, Santa Barbara; Professor Yvan Guindon at the Clinical Research Institute of Montreal; and Dr. Grace June at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Montreal, Canada.

 

Dr. Liu is a co-author and co-inventor of 33 peer-reviewed scientific publications and patent applications.
