Natural products continue to provide inspiration for improved synthetic design processes and novel methodologies, and also serve as potential leads for medicinal chemistry exploration, drug discovery, and chemical biology. In this lecture, we highlighted the efficient total syntheses of biologically active terpene, polyketide, and alkaloid natural products with a focus on the enabling synthetic strategies developed and the broader reactivity lessons learned.
