Cell Line Development

Comprehensive cell line development (CLD) is a crucial step in every biologics manufacturing program. The cell line selected early in development determines the productivity, product quality, and scalability of the final product, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness . Getting cell line development right from the start reduces risk downstream and accelerates timelines toward IND filings.

Pharmaron provides CLD services covering vector construction through final clone screening and regulatory-ready cell banking. The flyer below outlines the workflow, supported modalities, and key capabilities available at Pharmaron’s biologics CDMO facility.

From Vector to Verified Clone

Pharmaron’s CLD workflow moves through five stages:

  • plasmid construction
  • pool screening
  • clone selection
  • cell bank production
  • stability testing with final clone selection

Pharmaron then uses advanced screening and imaging technologies to identify and refine the top-performing clones in order to identify consistent expression, favorable product quality profiles, and long-term genetic stability.

The CLD platform supports a range of biologics including standard mAbs, BsAb formats, Fc fusion proteins, and nanobodies. Working with mammalian, microbial, and insect cell lines, our host systems including CHOZN CHO-K1/GS Knockout and QuaCell CHO-K1Q.

Cell Banking

Once a lead clone is selected, Pharmaron produces research-grade and GMP master cell banks with full characterization and stability testing. Data packages are structured to support regulatory submissions, drawing on Pharmaron’s experience across multiple IND-enabling biologics programs.
